I Heart Amazon Referrals

This post is more than 2 years old.

So last night I blogged an Amazon Affiliate link (http://snurl.com/h4kux) for the very excellent Learning jQuery 1.3. (I'll try to get my review up this week.) I decided to take a quick look at my Amazon stats to see if anyone had purchased it. Turns out someone had, which is cool. I now have (or will have) 2.13 in my pocket. I think Amazon has a pretty good deal here for bloggers (or actually, Twitters, emailers, whatever, it works!)

But then I noticed something... a bit unusual. Apparently I also got referral money for...

Himalayan Institute Original Neti Pot Complete Sinus Cleansing System Starter Kit - I'm not quite sure what that is, but any product with that many names in it has to be more advanced then the Space Shuttle.

But wait - it gets better. The next link I noticed?

Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man: What Men Really Think About Love, Relationships, Intimacy, and Commitment - Wow. Um, ok. Personally I probably have an easier time with machines than humans, but I've probably got a touch of Aspergers.

And then it got even better. The coup de grace. The ultimate WTF did that come from...

The Guide to Becoming the Sensuous Black Woman (And Drive Your Man Wild In and Out of Bed!)

Hey, I'm not sure who ordered this, or whether or not I'm seriously misunderstanding my readership, but whoever it was, thanks for the 90 cents. I'm not quite sure how someone becomes the Sensuous Black Woman. I would have assumed there would be more than one. But maybe it's some Highlander thing us geeks aren't aware of?

Neti pot helps clear sinuses, just like the title says. My wife has really bad allergies and the neti pot really helps clear out her nasal passages. Here's a video of one in action:

I've tried it once as well and it...take some getting used to. It's water, mixed with uniodized salt.

I guess you're lucky enough to catch referrals from folks looking at your specific book recommendations, but wandering off to other areas. Sweet!

@andy: I'm sorry, thats just wack. Not wacky - but wack. ;)

Honest . . . I SWEAR it wasn't me . . .

Ray you just got it like that! All the black women I know rave about you - especially the senuous ones.

I heard it was a very good book. Some great programmer suggested I should buy a copy so I ordered it last night.

Donna, obviously you aren't reading the book. There is ONE Sensuous Black Women. There can be only one. Right now Duncan McCloud is hunting her down to claim the title for himself. (Yeah, the fact that I'm making Highlander jokes really shows that I'm not the target audience. ;)

A doctor took the Neti Pot concept to create NeilMed. My father suggested I try it a few years back, and I've used it twice a day ever since. I had 4 different physicians suggest it on different occasions since then.

Yeah, I received my first referral check the other day, and someone picked up 2 seasons of Stargate Atlantis.

Another +1 for NeilMed's sinus rinse. It's a plastic bottle instead of a pot-with-spout, much less messy, works wonders. Not to be gross, but you know these recent mornings when you go outside and your car is yellow-green from pollen? You should see what these sinus rinses clean out . . .
