Canvas Logo

This post is more than 2 years old.

Dave Hill has come up with some cool Canvas logos. I need to pick one for Canvas 2. What do folks think?

Logo 1

Logo 2

Logo 3

My favorite is the first one.

From a fellow graphic designer's perspective, the first one.

Comment 2 by chad gray posted on 12/22/2006 at 9:25 AM

IMHO the first one is the strongest since the C is more prominent in the smallest version of the logo.

Comment 3 by Sam posted on 12/22/2006 at 9:39 AM

Definitely the first one.

Comment 4 by Greg Nilsen posted on 12/22/2006 at 9:56 AM

Another vote for the first one!

It just stands out stronger.

Comment 5 by Kyle Hayes posted on 12/22/2006 at 10:05 AM

Kinda reminds me of a -45 degree version of the open source logo:

Comment 6 by Dmitry Yakhnov posted on 12/22/2006 at 10:20 AM

Yeap, in the order: 1, 2 and 3 ;-)

Comment 7 by Thomas Messier posted on 12/22/2006 at 11:23 AM

I favor the 1st one too, second one is ok, definitely not the third.

Comment 8 by Scott P posted on 12/22/2006 at 11:49 AM

odd ball here but I like 2nd then 1st. Both are cool though.

Comment 9 by Trond Ulseth posted on 12/22/2006 at 2:26 PM

I like #2 - it feels fresher and more original than #1 even though I like that one to.

Comment 10 by Mark Drew posted on 12/22/2006 at 2:53 PM

After having a bit of a look (I initally liked 3) I am now sold on 1. Go number one! go!

Comment 11 by Dave Hill posted on 12/22/2006 at 3:55 PM

I didnt realise that I had almost used the open source logo icon, strangely enough though I was trying to represent the open source aspect of Canvas. Perhaps a nice coincidence.

Comment 12 by Jose Diaz posted on 12/22/2006 at 4:29 PM

I've got to say logo one. ;)

Comment 13 by Phil Duba posted on 12/22/2006 at 5:41 PM

I like #2 best also, then 1 then 3.

Comment 14 by Rob Wilkerson posted on 12/22/2006 at 5:42 PM

In a classic display of non-conformity, I really like #2. It doesn't quite look like anything else that's out there to me. Second preference is the oh-so-popular #1. #3 just doesn't work for me, but I can't put my finger on why.

Comment 15 by Nick Tong posted on 12/22/2006 at 5:50 PM

Number one all the way, really nice design. Looking forward to Canvas V2

Comment 16 by Adam Howitt posted on 12/22/2006 at 6:08 PM

Number 1 rocks. I like that the C is made from a head and shoulders shape on it's side. Number 2 is a little too generic.

Comment 17 by D K posted on 12/22/2006 at 6:22 PM

my personal choice would be 2 then 1 then 3. The font of 2 impacts more for me but maybe I'm OCD to italicized text :P

Comment 18 by Will posted on 12/22/2006 at 6:40 PM

I'm for #1 myself. Except I'd liketa see what it looks like with the "C" tucked into the green circle. Like it's wrapped around the "C" in canvas.

Comment 19 by Lance posted on 12/22/2006 at 6:55 PM

Definitely version 1.

Isn't it more important to protect the Wiki from hackers than put a logo on it?

This is one of the things holding up ( IMO, not expecting others to share it. ) cfeclipse. It's a great product... but I would like to put in a request for optional security. It's nice to live a fantacy that people are good... expec. in the season of Solstice where the festival of lights and tree trimming with gold and silver are a world wide tradition. (No, not saying we all celebrate solstice before someone says it...) Just saying that in the season of peace and goodwill toward men, it would be good to put a layer of protection between the those who aren't seeking goodwill and the rest.

#1 has my vote as well...

Comment 22 by Raymond Camden posted on 12/22/2006 at 7:11 PM

John, I am very aware of this. I am not delaying Canvas 2. I'm looking over the code right now. I just wanted to get peoples opinion on the logo. The only reason Canvas 2 has taken so long is that I only have a certain number of hours per day. ;)

Comment 23 by James, F.E. posted on 12/22/2006 at 8:04 PM

I really like logo 1 as I really like the color green, but I think logo 2 stands out more.

Comment 24 by Teddy R Payne posted on 12/22/2006 at 8:16 PM

I would choose the second one.

The third looks like Google updater and the first looks like the claws of the Scorpio logo.

Comment 25 by Dan posted on 12/22/2006 at 8:16 PM

I really like the clean look of #2.

Comment 26 by Jeff Fleitz posted on 12/22/2006 at 8:20 PM

I like the first one as well, followed by number 2.

Comment 27 by Russ Johnson posted on 12/22/2006 at 8:55 PM

I vote number 2 then number 1!

Comment 28 by Tom Cornilliac posted on 12/22/2006 at 9:09 PM

First and then third

Comment 29 by Rick posted on 12/22/2006 at 10:30 PM

Definitely number 1.

Comment 30 by John Farrar posted on 12/22/2006 at 10:34 PM

Sounds great Ray. Canvas is such a good product that it's a shame that people abuse it!

I vote for number 2.

Comment 31 by Steve Brownlee posted on 12/22/2006 at 10:51 PM

Number 2 looks the most professional, so therefore, is my choice. Numbers 1 and 3 look amateurish to me.

Comment 32 by KEVIN BENORE posted on 12/23/2006 at 12:25 AM

I love #1. #2 looks professional but looks bland as well.

Comment 33 by Robert Owen posted on 12/23/2006 at 1:26 AM

I would pick #2.

Comment 34 by Justin Carter posted on 12/23/2006 at 4:25 AM

The first one for sure. As already mentioned, the "C" being cut out by a "head and shoulders" shape is cool ;) And I'm partial to that shade of green lately too, hehe...

Can't wait to see Canvas 2. Cheers Ray, and have a Merry Xmas!

Comment 35 by Jen posted on 12/23/2006 at 8:09 AM

I like #2

Comment 36 by Raymond Camden posted on 12/24/2006 at 8:09 AM

So just so folks know - I counted 6 more for #1 than #2, so it wins. I'm going to release Canvas 2 as a beta real soon as I think its good to go. Mark Mazelin did an amazing job with it.

Comment 37 by Ron Domingue posted on 12/27/2006 at 1:30 AM

The first one Ray!

Comment 38 by Jake McKee posted on 1/1/2007 at 9:19 PM

Without question or hestitation, Logo 1. Seriously, that's a GREAT logo - I love the "hidden" person in the logo. Very cool.
