Ask a Jedi: ColdFusion Frameworks

A reader asks:

I am coming from the PHP Development... There are several Frameworks and Templatesystems -- Are there Developing Frameworks or Templatesystems (such as Smart for PHP) for ColdFusion too ?

There are indeed frameworks around for ColdFusion. Three “big ones” come to mind but there are more. The oldest (that I’m aware of) is Fusebox. I’ve never really used it and have never been a fan, but don’t take my word on it. Check it out for yourself.

Another one you may want to take a look at is Mach-II. This is a pretty nice framework and would be my second recommendation.

The framework I most enjoy, and what I’m using for most of my new applications, is Model-Glue. I don’t know why, but MG really “clicks” with me.

This is just a short list though. (And if I didn’t list your favorite, please don’t be offended.) Many more can be found at the very excellent ColdFusion Open-Source Project List.
