Trouble downloading from RIAForge? Read this

In the past few weeks, I've gotten around 10 or so emails from people having issues downloading projects at RIAForge. Because RIAForge allows folks to point to external download locations, I typically just check to see if that is the issue. However - I've never been able to replicate any of the problems the users are having. They typically report that they get about half way through the download and it then simply stops.

When it was only a few users, I was willing to blame a bad network on their side - but now it is apparent that something is up. I just wanted to give folks a heads up that I'm looking into it. If any of my readers have seen a problem like this before and have some advice, I'd love to hear it.

RIAForge uses Apache 2.2, and for the most part, it just always works. (Although last night it stopped running for some reason. I haven't seen it to do that ever.) When project admins edit their projects and enable or disable SVN, we do perform a graceful restart, but as far as I know, that does not impact downloads.

Ray,
I had an issue a week or 2 ago with downloading project tracker. I wrote the project creator, and he never got back to me. So, I was not sure if it was him or the site. I guess it may be the site that caused this problem?
I was able to get a copy from an old coworker so I was able to keep working.

thanks for checking into it.
Hi Ray!

I'm having the same issue downloading seeker. It stops before it reaches half of the 2.7M... :(
What happens if you use a network monitor, like Charles or ServiceCapture.
Hi ray, i'm having this issue right now. Trying to download from riaforge but stopped before it get finished. I tried about 5-6 times using different browser but it still the same. What is happen with riaforge? :(
Unfortunately I've not had a chance to work on this more. It's definitely something network related - it works fine for many and not others.

Are you international?
Yes, i'm from Indonesia. I gave up trying to download it.
Thx ray.
If you email me directly (use my contact form) and tell me the project, I'll send it to you. But don't tell anyone else.
Please try the following experiment -

Try to download BlogCFC (blogcfc.riaforge.org). Try 2-3 times. If it fails - then try to go right to: www.riaforge.org/downloads/blogcfc524.zip. Again, repeat 2-3 times and see if it fails.
Do not click on the link above - it's missing http. Just cut and paste it.
download @ blogcfc.riaforge.org failed over and over
And the direct link worked fine? Also - when you get failures - I assume you got partial downloads at least, right?
direct link worked fine, yep got partial downloads.
Interesting. So this means the issue is cfcontent. Time to dig more.
@Ray, I can download the files ok, but when I am in a sub domain (xx.riaforge.org) I often see missing images on screen, and charles shows this message:

http://coldfire.riaforge.org/images/navicons_livec...
Failed
Remote server closed the connection before sending response header
coldfire.riaforge.org/76.12.137.164
Never had any problem with RIAForge from Belgium. Could it be also linked to the provider and/or the browser used? Please people mention your current provide, browser (try with another one if possible) and OS.
I've had issues with downloading...

Country: Belgium
Provider: Skynet (Belgacom)
OS: OS X (10.6)
Browser: Safari, FireFox, Chrome
Problem: It all starts fine but after a number of MB the download-speed slows down and after that it stops downloading...
Guust - but is it better if u hit the zip directly?
Can folks try again please.
