On doors closing (and hopefully opening)

Sean blogged last night about the end of his time at Broadchoice. Unfortunately, I too have to make the same announcement. Yesterday was my last day as a Broadchoice employee.

I guess I can say I've been pretty lucky. While at Broadchoice I got to work with an amazing team of people and I've been able to get comfortable with some new technologies (Railo, Hibernate, AIR, Groovy, jQuery, Transfer, Spring). My Flex skills, especially, finally got the kick up that I've needed for quite some time.

My immediate plans are to continue working for Alagad on a part time basis while beginning my search for full time employment. I've done the contractor thing before, and while it can be fun to jump from job to job, I'm really hoping to find an opportunity with a company where I can focus my skills.

I thought I wanted to say more here - but - I think I'm just going to wrap up. Time to get ready for my flight back home.

Best of luck and I'm sure someone will snap you up before you even blink . . .
Sorry to hear the news man... but you are too talented to sit on the shelf too long. :) Enjoy some time off with your family.
Just wished you lived closer to Huntsville. I would love to have you on our team.
meh! you'll be fine man... broadchoice never really made sense to me, and i never REALLY got what market they were after. albeit a gorgeous application, it seemed very heavy and it really never made sense what id use it for... and i checked with other people and a lot of them didnt get "it" either... so, with that, im glad you are off that team, not for a single good personal reason other than, i didnt get it anyway :)

bon chance!
What happened at Broadchoice? Redundancy?

Anyways, onwards and upwards
So they used World Class Developers to build them a business and then sent you packing? Is their business stable? Good Luck out there...Not that you'll need it with your resume.
Good luck Ray - I'm sure that you'll find something pretty quickly. Hang in there!
Ray, whatever you have planned, I truly wish you the best of luck. Be happy! :)
Best of luck with the job hunt. Looking for a job is never fun.
May the force be with you.
Best of luck, Ray. Hope you get more time to check out new technologies and come up with new apps.
Good luck Ray.
I wish I had someone mentor me. Or someone to solve syntax problems for me all day long. It seems like every time I turn around, there is a new error that I've never seen before in my life.

I've been a cf developer for years and still am having trouble getting a development environment working to my liking.
For instance, how do you setup your multiple development environments to mimic your production sites?
Why am I getting an error setting up the ColdFusion curriculum datasource?
Why does the ColdFusion.navigate example in the book not work? (Someone posted a solution on livedocs).
I know I should be using TDD, I'm just not.
And that's just questions I've had TODAY.
(And today was a light day because I was in meetings all day.)

And another thing...
I wouldn't mind sharing the knowledge with new people.
I guess they are not rushing to take your name down of their site Ray. Probably going to try and cash in on your name as long as possible. Or, there isn't anyone talented enough left to figure out how to do it.
Good luck Ray. I'm sure you'll find a new home soon.

and to everyone else.... Wow... I've read the comments here and over at Seans. Why so negative? It's the economy stupids!!! Companies need to survive. Unless Ray or Sean says otherwise I'll chalk it up to start up stumbles.
good luck Ray, although I doubt that someone with your rep will need it. That said if you ever decide to move from the wilds of Louisiana up to the DC area, I know at least 4 companies that would love to have you on board.

Shame you both had the same trouble. Seems from the tone of the posts that neither was necessarirly your choice which is a real shame.

Hope you find something quickly that makes you enjoy your days :)
Ray,

I have no doubt that you will soon be presented with an opportunity of a life time. I wish you well.

Jim
Been a crazy week, but wanted to thank everyone here. Sorry I didn't write earlier. I definitely appreciate all the warm thoughts. I'll let folks know how things progress. I do truly wish the best for Broadchoice.
Hi, Raymond.

You are one most intelligent person I ever know, everything is happening for some reason in our life's. I sure some betters thinks will came to your life.

And your are the kind of people who spend many time hearing our issues and problems and in many times we find the solution with your advice. This is really important in the life. Everything will be fine.

Good luck my friend.
