CS3 doesn't like me - can anyone help?

So this morning I decided to install Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection. I selected a few of the apps as I didn't need everything (Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, Contribute) and hit go. I noticed a few minutes later the installer was hung. I was silently cursing the installer when I noticed my CD wasn't showing up in Finder. Turned out I had started up VMware Fusion and it had stolen the CD device. -sigh- My fault.

So I killed the installer and tried again. After a few minutes my leg accidentally hit the CD tray - which was open - which was news to me. When my leg hit the tray it closed. I figured - no big deal - it must want one of the other CDs. But when I selected the installer, I saw this:

Nice verbose message there. I waited a while and when nothing happened I force quit the application. I ran the installer a third time - ensuring I kept my legs to myself (I can't stop moving when I listen to techno - I'm crazy like that) and this time the exact same problem occurred! I didn't touch the CD tray, but I've got the same nice blank installer message.

Anyone have a recommendation?

Stop using Apple Products, only viable solution. :)
Ray,

Check your add/remove programs list to ensure no installations completed. If you're good on that end, go into Program Files\Adobe\Creative Studio 3\ (or wherever your install directory resides) and dump any folders created during the botched installation. Dump your temp files and reboot. Then attempt the installation again. If you're still having problems you will need to clean up your registry a little in which case hit me up on email and I will send you a quick cleanup script that you can tweak for your botched CS3 installation.
Damn I was just getting ready to say; step 1.) get a mac, but then realised you are on one. Gutted man, I had all sorts of troubles on my PC but dont have any experience on a mac. Do they copy files to local dirs pre-install, my only guess is corupted files.
Sorry Ray, I forgot you're on a Mac. I will silently bail on this issue as I have not a clue. :-)
I'm not up on all current installation gotchas, but I know that CS3 Support has recently created a portal page which lists their current documentation:

John, that was it:

Thank you. I haven't tried this yet - I'm doing so now.
I had to run the CS3 cleanup script before anything would install properly, so I agree with Leif and any others that recommended this.

Good luck!
I also had to run the CS3 clean utility b/c it would not install on my Macbook. This was due to the betas I had installed previously leaving some kind of files somewhere...

I had a heck of a time getting it installed, but it finally did work. Hope you get it.
-sigh-

So... the install went ok. I noticed though that it told me DW was still installed, even though I had done an uninstall.

No big deal though.

So I wrap things up - I run Photoshop, no problem. I run Dreamweaver, and it asks me for my serial number. I enter my serial, and it's invalid. If I have to uninstall _again_, I'm just going to quit.
Ugh.

Ugh.

I'm... speechless. I just got off the phone and I've been told I have to uninstall and reinstall completely.

Again.

I think I'll just pass. It's not worth it at this point.
I think I'm going to cry. I ran the DW uninstaller. I then ran CS3 installer again and it let me install DW, but during the install I got this issue:

http://indesignhelp.com/adobe-extendscript-toolkit...

I also found this article:

http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?ext...

Which recommended a full uninstall. As it would be my 4th, I went with the first article. So far it seems to be working.

I don't think I've ever been this frustrated in my life.
Ok, all done, and as far as I can see, everything is working.

Wow. I hope I never have to live through that again.
Master Collection eh? That must be a boatload of DVD's. I was just looking at The Master Production suite and that alone is 7 DVD's (all the extra stuff though, lynda videos and such).
Read this a bit too late, but I had the same issue with Master Collection when I did my update and the issue was Safari 3 Beta, which needed to be uinstalled. Wich I would've read earlier I could've helped out. This problem took one of my full days with installs and uninstalls.
Geez, guys - sorry to hear that; my CS3 Master Collection went smoothly onto my Mac Pro, and my colleague's installation was just as clean. It must just have been a glitch, Ray - I've run Adobe installers and upgraders on both MS and Mac for years without a single issue (although ask me about their constantly annoying update reminders every time I open a PDF...GRRRR!!!).

For what it's worth, every time I've installed CS3 it takes FOREVER! I always think it is hung but force myself to wait and it finally putts on through.
