What I did this weekend...

Well, not this weekend. This lego set of an Imperial Star Destroyer was sent me to almost a year ago. But I finally finished it this week. It contains close to 1400 pieces, and believe it or not is the "small" Star Destroyer. My brother-in-law has the 3k one and it dwarfs mine. See more pictures here:

Slide 4 shows you a good comparison shot. In general the ship wasn't too hard to build, but at times got very fragile. In fact, when I carried it upstairs a piece fell of the bottom. After a year of building I decided to simply pretend it didn't happen and just hid the piece. I'm sure plenty of contractors do that - right?

My nephew got one for Christmas just like that, me and my brother in law spent 3 hours putting it together that night. Needless to saw we got to admire it for 15 min before the kids took it apart. Than they asked us to put it back together, of course we said no but it was nice to see it built. I'm trying to find the Death Star!
just remind your wife you need the matching set! :)

the r2 unit isnt to scale is it? if it was it'd be about 100 ft high? what the heck its star wars continuity be buggered we luv it
That's great, quite an accomplishment. I started on one of those destroyer droids you have in the background with my 5 yr old and it was going well until he tried to do some of the work himself and lost some of the pieces. I've been afraid to try it since. Maybe we can get away with ignoring any missing bits.
DK - added to my wishlist - but it's 3k pieces. That means it will take 2 years. ;)
Looks great. Out of all of your Star Wars collection, what would you say is your prized possession?
I don't have a picture of it - but it is a Darth Vader shaped action figure holder. It is in horrible condition, well, not horrible, but not pristine, but I love it. I've had it since I was a youngin.
Good job! I'm looking forward to teaching my nephew the joys of legoing. At my parents' home, theres a big box ful of lego pieces. Now he's learned how to stack up large ABC blocks. So that day will be getting closer . . .

Isn't that what happened with the original Death Star? The contractor forgot the obstacles in the vent ports?
Nice Ray!

My wife and I take our 5 year old to Downtown Disney (Orlando) about once a week and one of his favorite places to go is the Lego store. That place is incredible. He will sit outside at the build stations and build stuff for hours if you let him!

I make a point every trip to let him pick out a lego project for us to build together. Our last couple were from the Exo-squad line, they are pretty neat. We have already built every Bionicle piece they have so its on to other things.

I tried to talk him into the AT-ST model but he said if he couldnt play with it, he didnt want it!

That place has a T-Rex out front that is about 12 or 14 feet tall along with a transformer style robot about the same height. They are awesome. I will post some pics on my site of them shortly for you guys to check out.

Go ahead and pre-order the Falcon! You know you want it!!
yeah, like what size is the garage you store all your Star Wars stuff in?
Heh, I have a large office and it is the main area where I store my SW stuff.
