As the parent of three little bundles of joy, two of which are now following in their father's footsteps and discovering video games, I noticed there isn't a really good place for parents to find out which games are best for their kids. Sure there are the standard video game review sites, but most of them don't have a specific way to focus in on games for kids. Also, while the ESRB ratings tell you the basics, it doesn't tell you what kind of skills a child needs to play the game. For example - will the child need good reading skills? Fast reflexes? Good memory? These are all things that may make a game less enjoyable for a child, or perhaps may be things you think your child needs work on. Also, if your going to be playing video games with your kids, I bet you would like to play games that are fun for you as well! So with that in mind, I'm happy to announce...

KidGamers.org

This is not just my site, but a collaborative effort between myself, Scott Stroz (big contributor to BlogCFC btw), Ben Forta, and Emmet McGovern. We are all video game players and all parents. So check it out, tell us what you think (especially if you are a parent), and visit the site often as we plan on having one big review a week (at minimum).

Big thanks to Rasteroids Design for the UI.

Nice! I actually had a similar idea since it is very difficult to find games suitable for younger kids. My kid is only about to turn 4 but he has been into games for some time already - especially Mario and Sonic on his GameCube and DS. I'd be happy to contribute if you are ever looking for contributors. P.S. Some type of age minimum or range would be useful in my opinion - but overall this is looks great.
This is awesome Ray! I'll be sure to check this site out in a few years when my little girl is old enough to play.
Brian, check the first posting, it tells the age range we are focusing in on. Basically, preteen and younger.
I did see that. I meant specific to the each game within the review. Preteen and younger is still a wide range.
Ah yes. That is one of the things we are going to srive for in our reviews.
I have to say that it looks good guys! Keep up the good work and I'm sure you'll have a success.
Ray - truly a great idea.
Have you considered reviewing online flash games too? My 11 year old daughter is currently mad for penguinclub.com.
Do you/will you accept reviews from other parents?
Anyway - great idea.
Antony
Yes, we would consider Flash games. As for reviews from other parents, not right now. But - we are considering adding Forums soon. This would let parents right their own reviews and comment on ours.
Great idea.
I'm not a gamer, having two kids (2 and 10 months) and dealing with work doesn't leave too much time. Which brings up the question exactly how many clones do you and Ben have?

I'll bookmark the website because I'm interested in the flash games, right now the older one is playing some Flash games from Sesame Street and Nick Jr. but his getting tired of them, at some point we'll have to go and explore other options. When that happens I'll definitely pay the website a visit.

Fernando
