Wow. After last week's somewhat slow episode, this one really ramped stuff up. It was a Locke-centric episode, which is normally good, and this proved to be no exception.
Let's cover the back story first. Locke is seen preparing to ask his girlfriend to marry him. Before he can do so, they find out that his father has passed away. Later on though his father shows up. We find out that he is hiding from some guys he stole a large sum of cash from. Locke's father asks him to bring the money to him, but when he does, Locke's girlfriend catches him and leaves him for good.
So - what's going on in the present time? Locke is sitting around in the hatch when he hears a faint noise being broadcast. It's not coming in well, but when it clears up, it's a countdown. When it hits zero, walls fall across the hatch. Locke and Henry are in the same area, so Locke enlists Henry's help to try to lift one of the walls. There is an accident, and Locke is trapped under the wall. He asks Henry to go through the ducts and enter the numbers. Time is running out and we hear some of the same noises we did last time when the number wasn't entered in time, but this time something amazing happens. A black light turns on, and we see.... something. It appears to be a very large diagram written on the wall. To be honest, I couldn't see anything clear in it. I'm sure there will be a picture on the net within the hour, and when I find it, I'll add a link to it. The diagram was very detailed and seemed to have a lot of information. But what that information was I have no idea.
Outside - Jack and Sayid run into each other at a parachute drop of fresh Dharma supplies. This really didn't surprise me. We knew that Dhara was still actively supporting the place. Although I'm curious why no one heard a plane go over.
In the meantime, Sayid and his crew discovered the balloon and grave site. But when they return, we find that Henry Gale was the one buried in the grave. Our "Henry" was definitely not telling the truth.
Interesting note: In the preview for next week, we see Sayid threatening "Henry", and he clearly says, "He will kill me!" Or something like that. If you remember a few episodes ago, the Others in the Dharma medical facility also mentioned an ominous "He". So "He" must be the guy behind it all.
As before, you can discuss the episode here, or on the LOST forums.
Edited: That didn't take long. Here is a screen cap of the diagram.

All the wack jobs/or with (unresolved) "issues" are left behind in the group.
If this was an experiment, the "control" group is steadily being removed. Does this make any sense??
Is all American tv that bad now?
As for Ziggy...interesting that you criticize the US shows, but obviously you buy them anyway, ironically, with American money. So much for a) avoiding things you dislike b) paying royalties (remind me to not pay you for your development time if you code things)
I am presuming it was drawn by those who were kept in The Hatch.
I will now spend the rest of the day deciphering and translating what appears to be Latin.
Since Desmond was in a Dharma uniform and referred to a string of replacements that went before him (although I remember that he was a "castaway" himself), I'm presuming that the survivors are the first set of non-Dharma occupants of the hatch. Besides, with Dharma participants in the hatch pressing the button through the time that Desmond arrived, when would any castaway have had the chance to draw that map with the blast doors down?
It seems a simpler explanation to me that the map represents the notes of one of the Dharma scientists, or at least a Dharma participant. Only they would likely have the knowledge of all of the hatch locations, could have gotten the blast doors down reliably, and would have drawn the map on the blast door. Or are you presuming that one or more castaways had extended, private access to the hatch in the past?
$0.02
credo nos in fluctu eodem esse - I think we are on the same wavelength
Hic sunt dracones - Here be Dragons
aegrescit medendo - It becomes worse for the remedies employed.
sursum corda - Lift up your hearts
Malum consilium quod mutari non potest - It's a bad plan that can't be changed.
Cogito ergo doleo - I think therefore I am depressed
Ut sit magna, tamen certe lenta ira deorum est - The wrath of the gods may be great, but it certainly is slow
Yea, this pretty much solidifies that it was NOT done by the people who run Dahrma.
I do have to admit that Dharma participants would not be as secretive about their notes, though. But what if they themselves are hiding their notes from the "He" that has been mentioned?
I know it sounds as if I'm convinced that the map was written by Dharma folks, but I'm only leaning that way. I just haven't heard a good theory about how castaways would have had the time and opportunity to draw it instead.
Tom: I had not meant it was a cast away from OUR group, just a non-Dharma person. I definitely don't think it was the current group.
I don't think it was Dharma as I can't imagine them writing notes like that. I'd think they would use real paper at least. :)

We know that most of the characters have met in the past or have at least had some kind of relation with each other (For example, Shannon's father was killed by Jack's ex-wife in the car crash. Jack assumed the accident was cause by Shannon's father--which is why he saved her and let Shannon's father die--when in fact the accident was the fault of Jack's ex.)
BTW, anyone notice that woman who's house Locke inspected and spoke with was Sayid's girl from Iraq? Sneaky, eh?
Also, Locke's Dad was running from people who he previosly conned. Does that mean Sawyer??? Is Locke's dad the original Sawyer??? Or was this actually told to us in the episode? i missed a few minutes of the middle.
Was Locke also part of a long con too? Did Helen really know locke's Dad and got a share of the $500 grand and that's why she dumped Locke???
So many new questions!!! That's why this show kicks ass!
Well, if the crap ones would say on the cover that they're crap then I could know beforehand and not buy them :-) And no, didn't use American money.
Come live in Vietnam, then report back to everyone about your great pride in buying "real" dvds. First you'd have to find one in the entire country. Or you could try Amazon, but they'll cancel your order if forwarding to Vietnam. If sent, you get to wait and deal with VN Customs. That's real fun. Or you can just buy it in the market for $1. The great thing is there are many international films that you would never end up seeing in the US, so that's good. And of course the usual Hollywood junk if you're in a McDonalds-like mood.
(Coldfusion and everything else costs $1 as well, by the way. It's a bit like itunes pricing. And the reality is there would be almost zero royalties if unavailable, because almost no one could buy at the regular price.)
Still, Lost is an amazingly dumb show written by/for people all hopped up on sugar and french fries. I was just wondering if there is anything good on in the US these days. A drama with a believable plot, actual characters, etc.
