LOST Review for 1/25 (Spoilers)

So, last nights episode was a bit slow - but I think one thing was made obvious - Charlie will be the first person to "go to the Dark Side." By that I mean he will leave the camp and join the Others. This will be our first real deep look into the Others camp. Just a prediction - but I'm pretty confident on this. He is pretty much a pariah now at the main camp, and from the flash backs it was obvious he wants to belong to a family.

Also - and maybe I'm falling into the "oh my god did you notice this one tiny little detail" camp - did anyone else think the offhand comment about the washing machines being new was significant? I had thought that perhaps that Hanso (or is it Hanzo? I forget) had perhaps abandoned the Island. Maybe they are still monitoring things and providing basic support.

Not just new...really new! It looked like a model of washing machine that wasn't even out when LOST first aired.

I am skeptical about your theory on Charlie. If memory serves me correctly, weren't the 'tailies' that were taken supposed to be the 'good' ones, or some such thing? I think I remember something like that during the re-cap of the 'tailies' time on the island.
Scott - you are mixing two things though. Yes, the Others go out to get the Good ones. However I think Charlie will go to -them-. They may not accept him, of course.
Good point.
We got two star wars references last night, IMO:

1) Sawyer calling Hurley, "Jabba"
2) Charlie putting up the hood, a la Anakin.

I too think Charlie will wonder off and let "the others" take him, but like you said "the others" take the good ones.

I still want to know what happened to the original guy in the hatch (sorry i forget his name). I think he knows about "the others", but didn't he mention he was part of some "race around the globe?" Think "the others" were part of the same race?

I too found the mention of the washing machines to be a bit odd. I think I saw that same model in Best Buy last week - LOL!

A couple notes:

And try plugging in the lost numbers as coordinates.... ;)
ross: Yeah, there were some REALLY funny lines in this episode, especially what Sawyer said about "load." And like you, I'm curious where that guy went too. I don't think he went to the Others.
Aye, I don't think "hatch boy" went to the Others. My other question is; why have such an armory? Who came first? The hatch or the Others? Where the guns to protect "hatch boy" from the Others or from the thing that happens if the timer runs out?

I'm highly suspect of Libby. That girl trips me out, even more so with Hurley looking at her for a straight minute, then her defusing the situation with a revealing top.

I think that Hurley remembers her from the hospital he was in. Libby was either a patient or a doctor (Duh). Plus that story she made up about him stepping on her foot was shaaaady. I have a funny feeling about her...funny feeling I tells ya'!
Wait, did the 'others' take the strong ones in the tailies episode? I thought those ones were taken because they presented the greatest obstacle to them taked the rest.

Granted, I'm 2 eps behind so I might have missed something.

Oh, and i think hatch boy was named Desmond?
I don't think we know what "Good" is yet, Biship, in terms of what the Others want. They have taken children for sure. To me - since I think this is all Pyschic related - it may be that children are "Good" since their minds aren't totally formed up yet. Also, and you will see this in the preview for the next episode, I believe the Others grab the Asian girl.
ross:

i don't think libby's story about Hurley stepping on her foot was necessarily shady.

if you remember from Hurley's flashback story, he did almost miss the flight (alarm clock didn't go off, missed a shuttle from the hotel, ended up running through the airport). he -was- all sweaty and he -was- the last person on the plane, so libby was right about that.

was she using that incident to try and steer the conversation away from something? maybe. hell, probably :) but...it wasn't a made-up story.

charlie
What's with Locke stashing the heroin that he took from Charlie in the storage vault instead of destroying it?
Locke/Heroin - Not sure. Maybe the thought is - save EVERYTHING since you never know what you will need.

Locke - question - was it ever explained how he learned all the hunting/military stuff? In his first backstory, if I remember right, he was talking to a coworker about military history, so he could just have been "really into it", but just because you read about guns, knives, etc, doesn't mean you can convert it into real-world use.
Charlie:
I agree, I think the story Libby was telling was just her steering the convo away from something. I still think she's shaddy. I just don't remember the foot thing, but I do remember the sweaty/almost missing the plane part.

Locke/Heroin - Perhaps he's saving it to keep charlie away from the baby in the future? (I know, way out in left field). But maybe Locke himself had an addiction? I think Ray is right about the save everything theory, too.

Anyone find the island on google maps, yet? ;)
I clearly remember seeing those washing machines in the first scenes of the inside of the "hatch." I pointed out to my fiancee that they were too new.

When they mentioned it last night, I wasn't sure if they were poking fun of themselves (for sort of messing up having such new item in the hatch) or if there's more to the issue.

When a show has so many different theories/twists, it's very easy for a prop on set to cause lots of attention, when in fact the prop used was an oversight and shouldn't have been used.

So, are they making fun of themselves for making a mistake or does it indeed mean something (i.e. there's people in contact with the island.)
Just an FYI, I read in a few Lost sites that the washer/dryer thing was a joke. So I doubt it is worth worrying about. :)
Ross, are these the coordinates you're referring to?
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=4....
How many of us honestly would have noticed the washer had Libby not mentioned it?
I think a bad assumption has been made above. That being that we have our survivors and the others as the only people on the island. The "Others" didn't take the good people. The remaining scientists took them. The video tape discussed a "perfect society" so the scientists have worked to create a Utopia. That's why Zeke didn't recognize Ethan as their spy. The Others' spy hasn't been discovered yet. Ethan was a spy for the scientists.

The Others took Walt. Walt's not good. Walt killed the bird, killed his mother, and burned the raft. Walt may end up being good but right now he is not Utopian good.
On the Libby issue, I don't understand how Hurley could have stepped on her toe. Wasn't she in the BACK of the plane? Why would he have walked past her if she was further back than he was? Something to think about....
it think libbys the others spy by the way she was acting
The washer and dryer weren't the only things new in the hatch. this candlescaping tray (featured prominently in the scvene where they were looking at records is from the 2005 Pier 1 collection:

About Libby being an "Other", remember when Cindy was missing after climbing up the cliff with the cave thing in it. Well Libby was right in front of Cindy. Also At the bottom Cindy is holding a knapsack and stick (and when climbing). At the top, Libby has it. Contradicting that is that there will be a Libby-centric episode this season.
